In April 2020, a Porsche partnership with Our Daily Bread Food Pantry started when local Porsche owners at Paradise Region Gruppe and the Porsche Naples dealership wanted to do something to help their local community as incomes shriveled due to pandemic shut-downs. Both organizations recognized that food on the table for families and individuals was a top priority that needed to be addressed.
The partnership started with a grass-roots food drive for Our Daily Bread Food Pantry in April 2020 organized by Paradise Region Gruppe Rally Chair Jenny Branston during the statewide “Safer at Home” order. The plan utilized exceptions to the governor’s order which allowed grocery shopping and also bringing supplies to others in need of assistance.
Contributions in April were so appreciated by Our Daily Bread Food Pantry that when COVID-19 restrictions were somewhat lifted, all involved decided to make the Food DRIVE! official. Another Food DRIVE! event on May 16, 2020 saw posters regarding Our Daily Bread Food Pantry in the Porsche Naples showroom on Davis Boulevard, along with displays of open trunks full of food on Our Daily Bread Food Pantry’s “critical needs” list. The dealership was the starting point for a Parade of Porsches that drove to deliver collected food to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry on Marco Island. In addition to food, financial donations to the pantry were also encouraged.
The success of the May 16, 2020 event, along with the camaraderie felt by everyone involved in feeding our local community, led Porsche Naples and Paradise Region Gruppe to decide to continue the partnership with the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry into the future.
We expect the next event on November 14, 2020 to draw even more participation as restrictions have lifted and the population of Porsche club members and clients swells in paradise during peak season. This partnership will continue beyond the pandemic into the future: Porsche Naples and Paradise Region Gruppe enthusiastically support the mission of Our Daily Bread Food Pantry to feed the local community in Marco Island and Naples.
If you're unable to participate in the food drive in person- or if you'd like to help more - please make a tax-deductible donation to this 501(c)3 charitable organization.
